Missouri Constitutional Amendment Mandates Primary Nominations
Republicans organize to prevent nullification of political parties
An independent group of Republicans from around the country has created an organization, Republicanorganizingcommittee.org, to develop plans to save the Republican Party from the scourge of ever expanding primary “elections” as the tool of choice for party nominations.
The Republican controlled Missouri legislature passed resolution HJR104 which placed a measure on the November ballot as an Amendment to the Missouri State Constitution.
This Constitutional Amendment was approved by a majority of the voters in last Tuesday’s general election.
The Missouri Constitution now mandates this:
“Require(s) the plurality winner of a political party primary to be the single candidate at a general election.”
Another ballot measure in the District of Columbia was approved Tuesday to: “permit any voter who is not registered with a political party to vote in the primary election of that voter’s choosing for all offices”.
These measures clearly deprive members of the Republican Party of their First Amendment protected right to choose the Republican candidate of their choice for public office. This deprivation of a civil right, under color of law, make these examples of the use of primary “elections” clear violations of the civil rights of Republicans everywhere.
The Republicanorganizingcommittee.org website offers preliminary topics of interest to the organizing committee:
Replace primary “elections” with party nominations.
Dissolution of the non-profit Republican National Committee.
Examine the structure of Republican state party organizations.
Review Republican Rules of Order in need of amendments.
Election of officers of the Republican National Committee in January, 2025.
Review financial procedures.
Review vendor selection procedures.
Determine if Civil Rights litigation is needed to preserve Republican member’s right to nominate Republican candidates for public office.
This Gaslighting Republicans Substack was created in March of 2021 when the Associated Press first began publishing “horse race” articles about the “primary” race leading up to the political party conventions in 2024.
We wrote about the AP story at the time:
“Because this article gives false information to readers that promotes the gaslighters narrative that the “primary horse race” will, in fact, result in the nomination of the next Republican candidate for President”.
“It reinforces decades of gaslighting that has convinced the vast majority of voters in America that the right to choose the Republican nominee for President belongs to them (voters) in primaries, and not the members of the Republican Party who will become delegates to the Republican National Convention in 2024”.
Obviously, “Gaslighting” prevailed in 2024.
The result was that both parties ended up with nominees for President that neither party convention would have chosen without the government interference in the nomination process. (Primaries)
Some will say the Republican candidate “won” the election last week.
Others will stay the Democratic candidate “lost” the election.
Primaries were responsible for both nominees.
Excellent and unarguable!
