The fundamental question we set out to answer with our first Substack post March 23, 2021 was “Primary or Convention; Who Decides?”
“Gaslighting Republicans” is a book in progress for the sole purpose of educating the delegates to the Republican National Convention in 2024 about the RIGHTS, DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES of each delegate to vote their conscience in casting a SECRET ballot for their favorite candidates to represent the Republican Party in the 2024 general election for President and Vice President of the United States.
Previous posts contain most of the facts to support the conclusion that ONLY vote of the delegates determines the Republican candidates.
Government sponsored public opinion surveys (AKA primaries) have NO FORCE OR EFFECT on the nomination whatsoever.
As we have previously written, Gaslighting has been very effective in convincing many that what is false is true. (Primaries nominate the Republican candidates)
A fundamental practice of good journalism is “verification”.
Journalism practicing “verification” provides citizens with documented information upon which they can make informed decisions.
A term, new to me, was introduced by New York University associate professor of journalism Jay Rosen recently: “Reverse Verification”.
In an interview with Grist, Rosen explained, “in REVERSE VERIFICATION you take something that’s been nailed down and try to introduce doubt about it…”
Our posts on Gaslighting Republicans are based on the “verification” principle of good journalism. Every fact posted here can withstand every test of verification possible.
On the question of “Who Decides; Primary or Convention”, even a cursory application of verification journalism will conclude “Convention” is the only possible answer.
