The national media’s poorly informed feeding frenzy on the RNC’s ill advised actions at a recent meeting of the RNC raises many questions about the origins and authority of the RNC.
So, just what is the “Republican National Committee”?
This post will answer that question with facts, a rare treat for readers of political news in America. As you will clearly see, the RNC is simply a “committee” of the Republican Party.
The Republican National Committee (RNC) is an unincorporated association of individuals created and governed by The Rules of the Republican Party. The quadrennial Republican National Convention is the highest authority in the Republican Party and the existence of each successive RNC is dependent completely upon, its authority derived solely from, and its functions are constrained entirely by, the Rules adopted by the preceding Republican National Convention that created it. Unlike the national Democratic Party, the National Republican Party has no permanent charter or bylaws. The RNC is not established by or under any federal or state statutes.
(Roger Allen Moore, RNC General Counsel, 1981-1989)
Mr. Moore wrote this as part of a memo sent to the members of the newly organized Republican National Committee following the general election in 1980.
More recently, a Chief Counsel of the Republican National Committee gave the following description of the Rules of the Republican Party to an orientation session of the Republican National Committee’s Rules Committee.
He said:
“One thing I want to emphasize at the
13 outset is that these are the rules of the Republican
14 Party. We often refer to them as the R.N.C. rules,
15 but they are the party rules that are adopted at the
16 convention every 4 years and the rules that actually
17 allow this body to exist.
18 This body is a creature created by the
19 convention, and it is only by the grace of the
20 convention delegates that the R.N.C. exists as a
21 governing body of the party.”

So, assuming that these individuals are credible sources, what is the correct answer to the following questions:
Is the current RNC authorized to exist?
When was such authorization executed?
If not properly authorized, what is the status of the Republican National Committee in the eyes of the Federal Election Commission?
How will the delegates to the 2024 Republican National Convention be elected?
How will the Call to Convention be issued for the 2024 Convention?
Will the primaries in 2024 bind delegates to vote according to the primary results?
Is the RNC chair position appointed or elected?
Will any of these questions be asked by the national media? If so, who would they ask?
Critical Primary Theory only survives because the national media has universally adopted the narrative that “the people” own the right to nominate Republican presidential candidates.
Critical Primary Theory ignores the First Amendment right of individual members of the private association, known as the Republican Party, to choose their nominee without government interference (primaries).
Gaslighting is the weapon of choice for advocates of Critical Primary Theory.
Unbound delegates to the Republican National Convention destroy the value of primaries to the media, consultants, lawyers, pollsters, academics and others having an economic interest in primaries.
We are blessed to have Substack available as an alternative means to inform the public when the monopolistic, established media deliberately lie to (gaslight) us.
Oh, by the way, here is the source of the earlier quote on the origin of the RNC from the official transcript of the April 10, 2013, RNC Rules Committee.
“For all of you who do not know,
18 John Philippe is our chief counsel. He's the one
19 standing up sipping his Coca Cola there.
20 He is assisted by Jon Waclawski, who is
21 specifically assigned to rules.”
